SCRAPBURST #1 - INSPIRATION
Spring by Jennie Seal
Detail of Jennie's background stamping, punched butterflies and handmade flowers on the top row.
8 by Heather Bensley (CT)
Heather has put a bit of hand stitching around the border and given the sewing machine a rest! Playing a bit with the brightness of the yellows, Heather has added a painted yellow frame behind the photo. Matching the journalled border strip with the butterfly punchouts ties in those patterns. Detail in the flowers, mixing up the size and styles along with the softness of some feathers...
...and a bit of ribbon on the bottom, layered and intertwined with the flowers.
SCRAPBURST #2 - NUMBERS
Generations by Heather Bensley (CT)
Heather has used neutral tones on her Number layout, giving it a earthy look. The inking around the border ties in the page and softens the edges, the chip shapes have been painted, stamped with text and inked along the edges. The handmade pinwheel is a good embellishment to add to a boys page in place of flowers, and looks effective even when mounted on Heather's chip flower shape.
The natural twine tied in a bow adds to the theme.
Fishing by Sarah Wood (CT)
Sarah has kept her lines very neat and clean on this layout, keeping the embellishments to the Numbers theme. Hand written journalling around the photos tells the story of the day.
SCRAPBURST #3 - BLUE plus ONE
Best Friends by Michelle Rogers (CT)SCRAPBURST #3 - BLUE plus ONE
Blue plus Orange
Michelle has used the text from the patterned papers to tie in the theme with colour and placement. Blocked journalling hand written on paper and cut out tells the story of this "mateship" between her son and his friends.
Layering and mounting of the paper strip and frames has lifted the layout, giving it a nice balance.
Ballet Dancer by Sarah Wood (CT)Blue plus Black
Dancing butterflies and..... errr...... very light blueish beading and flowers......
I hope you've enjoyed seeing the challenges put up by the girls, and that it gives you some inspiration to created on these rather brisk days!
