Blind Scrap Reveal...

Well another successful blind scrap in-house at Scrapville last night along with a couple of our interstate friends who took up the challenge via the wires. The theme for this scrap was to scrap someone you love and by the look of the layouts, there are a lot of special people out there. I love doing the blind scraps because I spend the entire evening wondering how everyone is going and I cannot wait to see the end results!

Blind Scrap Original Layout - Melinda (CT)

A little word from Janet...
It's just as exciting for me running the Blind Crop in-store as I don't get to see the end result until the rest of the girls do at the end of the night.  And it certainly means I can't be tempted to give out any hints... especially when I don't know what they are!!

And here are the Layouts completed by the girls (in-store) at Scrapville last night...

I will also be displaying the girl's layouts at Scrapville this week to give everyone a closer look.

Lastly, we have a few layouts from our Interstate friends who don't get to use the same products that are handed out in store, but participate in the actual blind scrap via the instructions and product list supplied by email, but we love having them anyway!

Thankyou to all her participated whether you were in-store or far, far away, we loved having you and loved seeing your creations. Looking forward to next month.

April Newsletter & Updates

Hello Everyone, it seems like I've only just finished one Newsletter, then the next one is due.  And yes, for those of you who tend to check - it's actually OVER due!  Well, here I am though, head down, fingers dancing on the keyboard (and trust me, any dancing on my part is not a pretty sight....keyboard or not!).  There always seems to be something exciting going on, and this month is no exception.  During April I announced the introduction of a Guest to the Creative Team, on a short term basis.  This role will be alternated with new Guests over the coming months, and I look forward to sharing with you their excitement, expertise and wonderful projects.  In this first Guest Role we welcomed Marg Oliver to the Team, and look forward to seeing more of her beautiful work.

Marg takes on the role at an opportune time as Sally Clark prepares for an overseas trip with her family.  Our Creative Team will miss her wonderful contributions to Scrapville’s Monthly Projects and the beautiful shop samples whilst she is away, and we wish Sally and her family a wonderful and safe trip.  I will be sure to give you an update when Sally returns home in early July.

I would also like to thank Melinda for her wonderful Monthly Sketches.  They have been great challenges, and the layout and card sketches are both fresh and exciting.  The general feedback has been just wonderful and each month brings with it a new motivation and excitement.

As you all know I recently announced that Scrapville was introducing Monthly Subscriptions.  These will commence from 1st May, and the first mail out will ensure that all those that have subscribed will have their packs or kits posted out before the end of April.  If you wish to subscribe for the Monthly Packs, please forward me an email for details regarding payment options and your selection.  In addition to the Subscriptions we will also be adding a Kit each month. In the Shop:
On the TOOL front we have the perfect opportunity for you all to get the Male Members of the household into a Scrapbooking Shop!  Tell them there are TOOLS, and they'll drop everything and whip in to pick up something special for Mother's Day!....  There is lots to temp Mum that those Dad's out there should be aware of!!  MM Paper Trimmers are in stock, the Ott-Lite lamps are now in, the Crop-A-Dile cases have arrived, the Heat Guns are re-stocked, the MM Metallic Stamp holder kit is in, the Border Punches are in, Pop Up Punches are in, Xyron Refills and Craft Knives are topped up, and the replacement Cricut blades and Cricut Took Kits are in.

Now, all that without even mentioning the Cricuts, Texture Boutique Embossing Machines, the Cuttlebug Machine or the Zutter Bindit.  The only thing missing here is the i-top's, which I'm hoping arrive soon...

I have more Glitter now in stock for all those secret fairies out there needing a bit more sparkle!  We have the Versamark Watermark pads back on the shelf, and StazOn back in stock, also available in several new colours. For those into distressing and aging we also now have the Tsukineko Walnut Inks in a 4 Pack Spray set, great range of colours and SO many uses. We also have the Static Pads for embossing, embossing trays for a neater application, and more daubers for inking.

There is a new supply of really nice Bling, Felt and Cardstock Embellishments to stick straight onto the page, and some really neat Puffy Stickers in Alpha's and Shapes to compliment cute boy and girl ranges coming out soon...
There are new Thickers in, new coloured Mini Alphas, and some nice thick cardstock alpha stickers in a couple of different styles. Nice enough to put straight onto the page, or even mount up and edge with the distresser.

A little off the page we have Book Plates and Metal Tags, Metal Word Tags and Gorgeous White Plywood Letters and Numbers. These are light enough to put onto a page, mount onto an OTP Booklet or decorate on their own. Along with these we have an A4 sized raw wood album - the cover & back are joined with album rings, and they include an extra "number" that is loose so that it can be decorated separately and then added on accordingly. The Number Albums are 18, 21, 30, 40, 50 & 60. Others are available at your request.....

There are Cropper Hopper 12x12 paper holders in sets of three, and a Wire Holder for your Trimmer that will keep your work area free for spreading out.  This next bit scares me a little....................... there is SO much paper.......... where do I start?
Imaginisce, BoBunny, Basic Grey, American Crafts, 3Bugs in a Rug, WeR Memory Keepers, Cosmo Cricket, October Afternoon, DoodleBugs, Junkitz............ puff, puff, puff!!!

Okay, there might also be more flowers - there might be BIG paper flowers and tiny velvet flowers and little bling flowers and very BRIGHT flowers and a few more bling flowers and even some bling flower CENTRES (which are pretty nice)............ but I would need to have another look!

ALMOST in the door is the Album backorder, the trolley TOTEs with wheels and a handle, the Texture Boutique Beginner Kits and the Heidi Swapp Edge Distressers..... I do however have some more 12x12 albums in a Kraft colour with either Red or Light Blue spines, and a range of album refills.

So there you have it, busy busy busy!!  So much stuff, so little time...  Apart from this Scrapville has entertained the idea of running a Retreat in September.  Deposits are being taken and preparations are being made.  Far be it for me to say that this is going to be an exciting event, but by golly it is!!  I will update you further when I am able to confirm all details, but please email me should you have any queries.

For the Cause: Biggest Morning Tea Event
For the past couple of years I have registered with the Cancer Council's Biggest Morning Tea and organized an event to support this very worthy cause.  I am happy to announce that I have registered my support through Scrapville, and will be participating in the Biggest Morning Tea in-store on Thursday, 27th May.  There will be a few surprises here, so keep an eye on the Blog for updates.

Blind Scrap Sneak Peek!

Well after the success and frivolity of the last blind scrap, I'm really looking forward to seeing what the 'masked' bandits come up with for Saturday's Blind Scrap Session in-store at Scrapville, Wodonga.
I have added a little more to this layout so I'm sure it will be fun and don't forget you must use a 6 x 4 photo of someone or something that you love!
For the interstaters or International's that would like to play along, leave a message on this post or send your email details to Janet at scrapville@iinet.net.au and we will send you a copy of the instructions on Saturday night.
And now for the sneak peek... and yes, there is another button, or perhaps a few...
Happy Scrapping!

March Pack creations by Marg...

Marg has certainly stepped into her role as guest on the Creative Team with some fancy flare... she has been busy with the March Pack containing all those gorgeous little robots from the Super Stud range by Bella Boulevard. And my word hasn't this pack been popular... Janet has had to make up more and more kits to keep up with the demand!
March Kit Layout - Marg (CT)
March Kit Card I - Marg (CT)
March Kit Card II - Marg (CT)
Don't forget to send in your creations so we can post them on the blog to share with everyone.

Check these out...

Hey Girls, better late than never, but how could I NOT show you these last minute Sketch Challenges from the March sketches?  They are awesome, and although some were in fact done well and truly in time, the upload didn't go quite to plan.  Alas, here they are:

Heather
Heather has gone to so much trouble with all that beautiful paper piecing and stitching of the sky. The sun really pops off the page with the title and that little tree and birdie is too cute!
Jennie
Such a beautiful theme Jennie, love the stitching around the border with the bling and that little tree with the owls is just so pretty!
Lynne
Lynne has created such a fun and whimsical layout... just look at that little birdie sitting on the fence... aughh!
Love the stitched cloud too!
Rosanne
Rosanne has created such a wonderful card for Mother's Day and just look at the super cute ladybird sitting on the flower. Love the ribbon work too!
Thanks for bringing them in girls, it is just so inspiring to see how differently we all scrap and create.  I am loving all your work, and so pleased with your enthusiasm to create and share.

Today is the day for announcements!

Announcement No. 1
I have been giving the role of Creative Teams considerable thought of late, and what I have decided to do is introduce a Guest onto the Creative Team for a short term role.  This person would kurtow to the many demands of the almighty shop owner ............ oh sorry, that was a dream I had......  but I wouldn't entirely object!  Anyhow, I would like to feature this person's projects on the blog and in-store, and also do a meet and greet in-store (where possible) so that you can also meet them.

My vision here is to introduce the talents of everyday ordinary people, share their project styles and techniques, and diversify the scope of your knowledge with something new or different.  There are many creative people out there who are just like you and me, who play a part in the same scrapbooking, papercraft and card making world, but perhaps just do it a little different to each other.  This is my way of showing you all how at ease you should feel about achieving something you are passionate about regardless of where you think your quality threshold is.

New styles and techniques lead to new challenges, learning new ways to expand on your creativity, or simply just seeing what or how someone else scraps.  I hope this will be as exciting for you all as it is for myself, the Creative Team, and the ever excited Guest....

I would now like to introduce everyone to Scrapville's very first Creative Team Guest Member.
Please welcome to the team...
Marg Oliver
And to help you get to know Marg a little...

Where do you live?
Wagga Wagga
How long have you been scrapbooking and cardmaking for?
Five Years
Describe your style?
I don't really have a style, but I do love the 'shabby' look.
Have you ever been published?
Yes, I've been very fortunate to have layouts and cards published in Scrapbooking Memories; Scrapbook Creations; For Keeps and Australian Cardmaing, Stamping and Papercraft.
Your favourite colour scheme to work with?
I love pink but haven't been able to use it much until the recent birth of my very first granddaughter 'Evie'.
What is your favourite brand of paper?
October Afternoon
Who do you love to scrap?
My gorgeous grandchildren, I have two little grandsons and now a grandaughter.
Do you scrap by yourself or in a group?
By myself mostly, but there are a couple of girls that I get together with but not much scrapping gets done.

Do you go to any retreats?
Yes, I've been to Sydney and Cairns, and will be off to Cairns again next month.
and finally
What product can't you live without?
White, Black and Kraft cardstock.

Welcome Marg, and I look forward to sharing your beautiful work with everyone.
Janet

A couple of last minute entries... Phew!

We have a couple of last entries for the monthly laout and card sketch challenge which have made it just in time.

Clare
This entry has come all the way from the UK - Clare has sent in this beautiful card and what a scrummy colour scheme. Love that flower embellishment too!

PinkyHiggs
Pinkys gorgeous card is for her partner's birthday on the weekend. She said "It's so hard creating pretty cards for males, so I took the red, black and gold approach with 'manly' torn edges!"

Kaylene
Kaylene's card is so cute with those gorgous little ladybird's. Love the hand stitching and your flower is just wonderful.

Emily
Such a bright and cheerful card. Love the butterfly with its bling antennae.

Kaylene
Look at this fabulous tree! Kaylene has created a wonderful layout complete with paper pieced grass, buttons and a little bird in the tree... not to mention the gorgeous doggy!

Emily
Now that's just too funny! Love the little turtle and the bling! Wonderful layout Emily!

Thank you to everyone who has contributed their wonderful talents this month!

Tomorrow the winners will be announced and the new sketches will be posted with the big reveal of the new guest Creative Team member!
Happy Scrapping!

April Sketch Sneak Peek...

This sketch sneak peek comes with a slight difference to previous sketch sneak peeks and that is... it's not mine! There will be a new face amongst the ranks but 'mum's-the-word' for a few more days. You will just have to be patient until the sketch reveal on the 15th because it will reveal allot more than just the next challenge. Although if you look closely, this pic might just hold a little clue...
Now, don't forget you only have until midnight on the 14th to get your layout and card sketch challenges emailed or dropped into Scrapville.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Hello Everyone, thought I would start the day with a Special Announcement from Scrapville.

We are pretty excited to announce that we have been given the opportunity to hold a RETREAT, and have decided to do it!  Yes that's right - a weekend away scrapping and card making and creating, all without kids, furry kids, hubby, pseudo hubbies, boyfriends, girlfriends, mums or dads!!!

This is just a short post to cover the dates so that people can make arrangements and start planning.  So................
  • The RetreatVille will be held over four days at the commencement of the Victorian school holidays in September: Thursday 16th, Friday 17th, Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th.
  • This is a RetreatVille, not a CropVille, so all attendees will remain at the venue throughout the duration of their booking.
  • There will be a Three Night Option for those wishing to attend on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights - priced accordingly.
  • There will also be a Two Night Option for those wishing to attend on the Friday and Saturday nights - priced accordingly.
  • There will be an Immediate Payment Plan for those Registered to Attend.
  • There will be a Non Refundable Deposit of $50.00 required with the Registration Form to hold your place.  Forms will not be accepted without the Paid Deposit.
  • There will be a SHOP.
  • There will be more information regarding the type of Demonstrations, Make n Takes, Workshop and Kits.
  • There will be Published Guests.
  • ....... and there will be surprises!!
To be honest, there is still a lot of fine tuning to be done, but my main concern is getting the dates to you so that you can make your plans NOW.  Numbers will be limited, so only those paying their deposits will be put onto the attendees list.

I will be confirming prices next week once I have ironed out the activities and extras that will need to be included, but to help those of you wanting to budget, the prices will be between $200 and $360 approximately...... as I said, ironing still needs to be done to get out the wrinkles!

If you want a closer look, please go to Feathertop Chalet and check out the Venue.

So girls, GET EXCITED, and GET ONBOARD for what will be an amazing fun filled RETREATVILLE!

Woo Hoo!!!
