Blind Croppers

It's a bit like that saying...."you really should have been there!"  We secretly decided to turn the tables on the girls at RetreatVille, and give them a Blind CropVille run by Sally, but they already knew!  My goodness, what fun, and by that I mean what fun I had watching!!  A fair amount of whip-cracking was undertaken, we ran out of Naughty Corners (it didn't help that we had one reserved for Heather, and she wasn't even there!...).

At the end of the night we had successfully achieved (photographic proof of) completed Blind RV Layouts. I really think the photos of the girls scrapping same would have been better to upload, but I don't respond very well to threats of bodily harm......  therefore we have a few layouts to share instead!  Enjoy!

Lots of fun was had by all.  The girls had to choose all their bits and pieces from their own stash, so I think they all did a pretty good job.  You can see these and more at Scrapville and in the Window of Fame.  Thanks for running the Blind RV Sally.

Our next in-store Blind Cropville is on Saturday, 8th October.  There are 2 classes, one at 2.30pm and one at 7pm.  Bookings are essential and the list of requirements will be uploaded to the sidebar on the Blog under Blind Cropville.

1 Hour Challenge

Here's something new we decided to give a whirl at RetreatVille, a 1 Hour Challenge.  Prior to starting everyone was given an envelope with several items of similarity, with a one hour time limit and anything goes, as long as all items from the envelope were used.  For those of you that think this is a very unlikely challenge, try it some time!  Here are the girls efforts.

Nurse by Kylie Wagstaff
Girls by Jennie Seal (GCT)

Happy 26th Birthday Nathan by Zan Boyle
Emily Eight Months by Leanne Gamze
What a great challenge this was.  The girls all did a fabulous job given the time limit, and I think some may have surprised themselves by being able to use their little surprises as well.  Glad you all had fun!

A Sketchy RetreatVille?

Some may think so, but here we have some wonderful RV Sketches to share with you all.  Being a part of RV means you get to do our special RV Sketch, and first up to share is the Creative Team, who all had their lovely creations on show all weekend.  Thanks again to the amazing Anita for her wonderful designs.
Me Time by Anita Bownds (CT)
I just love the colours in this Ezy Pzy Kit.  Anita has used coordinating Manor House flowers and spritz to work the colours in, and the spritz pattern drizzled over the background looks great.
Layering and a bit of doodliing adds definition, and a bit of bling never goes astray!  Doilies are just so versatile at the moment, and Anita has made great use of these.  Gorgeous work girlfriend!
2010 by Sally Clark (CT)
This is what I love about the Sketch Challenges, how different are these layouts?  Again, we have an Ezy Pzy kit used for Sally's layout, taking the work out of coordinating the patterns, colours and extras.  Tags are great on masculine layouts when you add a bit of "Bloke", whether it be the colours, distressing or texture.  The thickness and colour of the grosgrain ribbon works well, and a bit of frayed string works a treat on the tag.
Inking adds definition, as does the overlapping of layers.  A bit of stamping using texture stamps creates a bit of grunge.
Giving your punches a good workout with a bit of extra inking and layering can create different effects.  A simple way to do a title, a little tag with your stamped title - Ezy!  Well done Sally, a great one for the Boys.
Mason by Deb Pulford (CT)

Deb has used an Ezy Pzy Kit to do her Retreat Sketch.  Takes all the work out of thinking, the colours all work well together and there are some lovely Manor House flowers to add a little softness.  Looks great Deb.
Spring by Jennie Seal (Guest)
Jennie has taken advantage of her border punches, and tearing on the edges to give the layout a sense of depth.  The punched tag is a great way to decorate your journaling panel, and a few bits of bling and charms adds to the feminine feel of the layout.
Her fussy cutting is great, and looks fantastic layered and covered with Dimensional Magic.  The fine loopy punch layered beneath the ribbon trim balances out the colouring and look.

The border punched strips have really worked well with their colours, and the inked ribbon layered on top brings it all together to make a lovely layered effect beneath the photo.  The little dots of paper have been painstakingly adhered and covered in, yes, Dimensional Magic.  Beautifully done Jennie.

The Creative Team Girls have worked wonders with the Sketch, now here are some of the layouts the girls have completed over the weekend.

Some very beautiful work by the girls, and for those that had never tackled a sketch before - exceptionally Well Done!

Challenge Update

Hello Creative People,
just a reminder that you now have SEVEN DAYS to get your Sketch Challenges in.  Close off is at pumpkin time on Sunday 14th November, when the next Layout Sketch and Card Sketch will be uploaded.  Don't miss out, there will be a prize to give away...  Please remember that your entry may be turned or flipped, and will be considered for the winning prize so long as we can recognize the Sketch in your layout.

Sketch Winners
.............rounding the final bend at full stretch and heading up the straight for the final lengths to cross the line for, dare I say it, a photo finish................ is the Sketch Challenge Winner's Announcement!  Well, it may have taken a bit longer than that race that stops a nation, but never fear we have a winner!  Actually, thanks to the generosity of the very talented Sandie of Sandie's Handmade Daisies fame, we have several packs of her newest and cutest Li'l Daises to give away.  These are just gorgeous, and have been kitted up in a little prize bundle with some Scrapville goodness added in!  So, without trotting around who actually won, the recipients of these prizes for their Sketch Challenge entries are Deb and Sarah.  Cong Rats Girls!!  Please call into Scrapville to pick up your prizes, or alternately they can be posted out (Deb I will email you for details).

Echo Park Monthly Pack & BasicGrey's Extra Pack
The prize for this pack was randomly drawn, and we had to ensure the last winning entry for the monthly packs was excluded from winning again, as they are ineligable to win consecutive months (although we still request that everyone continue to enter so that we can admire all your work).  The winner is Judy, who will also be receiving a wonderful little prize pack.  Cong Rats Judy!

Change of Plan for Monthly Pack Winners.
Starting with the November Monthly Pack I have decided to change the selection process for the winning entry.
Anyone who purchases the Monthly Pack,
or the Monthly Pack and Bonus Kit,
or the Monthly Extra Pack,
and uses only the products contained in the Pack (with the exception of techniques such as Distressing, Sanding, Sewing, adding Paint/Glimmer Mists, Glitter or Dimentional Magic) will be in the running for a Scrapville $20.00 Gift Voucher (T&C apply).  Only ONE entry per Pack will be accepted for submission.  Anyone submitting more than ONE entry is more than welcome to do so, although only their FIRST entry will be accepted in the Prize Challenge.
The winner will be chosen by Janet and the Creative Team, and the Creative Team Guest, based upon a voting system which merits the standard, quality and originality of the projects submitted.  All votes will remain confidential.

Anyone who wins a Scrapville $20 Gift Voucher will not be eligible to win the following month's Monthly Pack Challenge.  It is encouraged that you still enter your completed projects so that we can continue to admire your work.

Change of Plan for Sketch Challenge Winners
Starting with the November/December Sketch Challenge I have decided to change the selection process for the winning entry.
Anyone who enters the Layout Sketch Challenge must adhere to the conditions applied.
All entries may use their own products,
may use any techniques,
may turn, flip or rotate the Sketch,
may only submit ONE entry per Sketch Challenge,
must submit an entry that can easily be recognizable to the Sketch provided.
The winner will be chosen by Janet and the Creative Team, and the Creative Team Guest, based upon a voting system which merits the recognized sketch, standard, quality and originality of the project submitted.  All votes will remain confidential.

I have also decided to introduce the opportunity for the previous Sketch Challenge Winner to be included as part of the voting team for the month FOLLOWING their win.  They will be given one vote, and their vote will remain confidential.
Anyone who wins a Scrapville Sketch Challenge will not be eligible to win the following month's Sketch Challenge.  It is encouraged that you still enter your completed projects so that we can continue to admire your work.

Congratulations Deb and Sarah, you will BOTH be given a vote in choosing our next Sketch Challenge Winner.

MAY NEWSLETTER

Hello Creative People, and Welcome to the Scrapville Newsletter. It's a little daunting at this point to realize that we are almost half way through the year already! Hasn't it just flown by without our noticing?.....
Scrapville has been very busy indeed, the least of all being the excellent layout and card designs being put up by the Creative Team. They are working hard on their beautiful projects to keep you all inspired, and get your motivation moving. I am very grateful for their input.

May has pretty much been "Mother's Month" here at Scrapville. The lead up to Mother's Day with the Special KidsVille class was a lot of fun, and the kids were all great. Some very proud little people left the class that day, excited about sharing their creations with their Mums on Mother's Day.

There are some great in-store specials on until the end of May. If you are looking at updating or adventuring into accessorizing your creative space with some new toys, we have what you need here at Scrapville! Call in and see what's available whilst the prices are down - our new cutting and embossing machines and accessorized tools are always better when you get them for a bargain!

SCRAPVILLE'S BIGGEST MORNING TEA
I find that where ever you look, you will find someone that has been touched in some way by cancer.
It's simply more than that five degrees of separation, it's that thing that sits and niggles away at the who, what, why and when inside us. The pain and suffering so many endure, the loss - albeit physical, emotional or financial, it's burdens are great. The strength to overcome these times, to support, to give hope and have faith often comes from the people working hardest to prevent it from taking any more lives. These are the people that are behind the Cancer Council and their diverse teams raising funds for this great cause, funds that go towards care, prevention, medication and research.

We are onboard.................

Scrapville will be holding a Biggest Morning Tea this Thursday, 27th May between 10.30am and 2.00pm. There will be a $5 donation for admission to the back room, where you will enjoy some yummy cakes and slices with your coffee and tea. Wear something PINK and you will be put in the draw for a spot prize.
All entry fees will be donated to the Cancer Council's Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser.
20% of all sales on the day will also be donated to the Cancer Council's Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser.

If you have paid your $5 donation, please feel welcome to come back for a FREE CROP at 7pm. The night is PINK, so wear something PINK, or work on something PINK. If you can only come for the evening CROP, the $5 CROP FEE will also be donated. Please contact Janet if you would like to attend so that numbers can be confirmed.

JUNE’s Monthly Pack will once again feature TWO packs. Due out next Tuesday, the first will feature a range by My Little Shoebox, and the sample created by Melinda. This is priced at $15.00, and includes an optional Booster Pack for $10.00.  The Booster is only available with the purchase of the Monthly Pack!

The second will feature a beautiful range by Crate Paper, and the sample will be created by Marg. This is a wonderful and pretty pack, and priced at $20.00.

Those who have subscribed to the Monthly Packs will receive them as a priority; all the other packs will go onto display in the shop. This is a much easier way to ensure that you always receive your Monthly Packs.

Well I hope you are all finding time to scrap and be creative. I’m sure I will have more updates for you all soon, so keep tuned!!

April Newsletter & Updates

Hello Everyone, it seems like I've only just finished one Newsletter, then the next one is due.  And yes, for those of you who tend to check - it's actually OVER due!  Well, here I am though, head down, fingers dancing on the keyboard (and trust me, any dancing on my part is not a pretty sight....keyboard or not!).  There always seems to be something exciting going on, and this month is no exception.  During April I announced the introduction of a Guest to the Creative Team, on a short term basis.  This role will be alternated with new Guests over the coming months, and I look forward to sharing with you their excitement, expertise and wonderful projects.  In this first Guest Role we welcomed Marg Oliver to the Team, and look forward to seeing more of her beautiful work.

Marg takes on the role at an opportune time as Sally Clark prepares for an overseas trip with her family.  Our Creative Team will miss her wonderful contributions to Scrapville’s Monthly Projects and the beautiful shop samples whilst she is away, and we wish Sally and her family a wonderful and safe trip.  I will be sure to give you an update when Sally returns home in early July.

I would also like to thank Melinda for her wonderful Monthly Sketches.  They have been great challenges, and the layout and card sketches are both fresh and exciting.  The general feedback has been just wonderful and each month brings with it a new motivation and excitement.

In the Shop:
On the TOOL front we have the perfect opportunity for you all to get the Male Members of the household into a Scrapbooking Shop!  Tell them there are TOOLS, and they'll drop everything and whip in to pick up something special for Mother's Day!....  There is lots to temp Mum that those Dad's out there should be aware of!!  MM Paper Trimmers are in stock, the Ott-Lite lamps are now in, the Crop-A-Dile cases have arrived, the Heat Guns are re-stocked, the MM Metallic Stamp holder kit is in, the Border Punches are in, Pop Up Punches are in, Xyron Refills and Craft Knives are topped up, and the replacement Cricut blades and Cricut Took Kits are in.

Now, all that without even mentioning the Cricuts, Texture Boutique Embossing Machines, the Cuttlebug Machine or the Zutter Bindit.  The only thing missing here is the i-top's, which I'm hoping arrive soon...

I have more Glitter now in stock for all those secret fairies out there needing a bit more sparkle!  We have the Versamark Watermark pads back on the shelf, and StazOn back in stock, also available in several new colours. For those into distressing and aging we also now have the Tsukineko Walnut Inks in a 4 Pack Spray set, great range of colours and SO many uses. We also have the Static Pads for embossing, embossing trays for a neater application, and more daubers for inking.

There is a new supply of really nice Bling, Felt and Cardstock Embellishments to stick straight onto the page, and some really neat Puffy Stickers in Alpha's and Shapes to compliment cute boy and girl ranges coming out soon...
There are new Thickers in, new coloured Mini Alphas, and some nice thick cardstock alpha stickers in a couple of different styles. Nice enough to put straight onto the page, or even mount up and edge with the distresser.

A little off the page we have Book Plates and Metal Tags, Metal Word Tags and Gorgeous White Plywood Letters and Numbers. These are light enough to put onto a page, mount onto an OTP Booklet or decorate on their own. Along with these we have an A4 sized raw wood album - the cover & back are joined with album rings, and they include an extra "number" that is loose so that it can be decorated separately and then added on accordingly. The Number Albums are 18, 21, 30, 40, 50 & 60. Others are available at your request.....

There are Cropper Hopper 12x12 paper holders in sets of three, and a Wire Holder for your Trimmer that will keep your work area free for spreading out.  This next bit scares me a little....................... there is SO much paper.......... where do I start?
Imaginisce, BoBunny, Basic Grey, American Crafts, 3Bugs in a Rug, WeR Memory Keepers, Cosmo Cricket, October Afternoon, DoodleBugs, Junkitz............ puff, puff, puff!!!

Okay, there might also be more flowers - there might be BIG paper flowers and tiny velvet flowers and little bling flowers and very BRIGHT flowers and a few more bling flowers and even some bling flower CENTRES (which are pretty nice)............ but I would need to have another look!

ALMOST in the door is the Album backorder, the trolley TOTEs with wheels and a handle, the Texture Boutique Beginner Kits and the Heidi Swapp Edge Distressers..... I do however have some more 12x12 albums in a Kraft colour with either Red or Light Blue spines, and a range of album refills.

So there you have it, busy busy busy!!  So much stuff, so little time...  Apart from this Scrapville has entertained the idea of running a Retreat in September.  Deposits are being taken and preparations are being made.  Far be it for me to say that this is going to be an exciting event, but by golly it is!!  I will update you further when I am able to confirm all details, but please email me should you have any queries.

For the Cause: Biggest Morning Tea Event
For the past couple of years I have registered with the Cancer Council's Biggest Morning Tea and organized an event to support this very worthy cause.  I am happy to announce that I have registered my support through Scrapville, and will be participating in the Biggest Morning Tea in-store on Thursday, 27th May.  There will be a few surprises here, so keep an eye on the Blog for updates.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Hello Everyone, thought I would start the day with a Special Announcement from Scrapville.

We are pretty excited to announce that we have been given the opportunity to hold a RETREAT, and have decided to do it!  Yes that's right - a weekend away scrapping and card making and creating, all without kids, furry kids, hubby, pseudo hubbies, boyfriends, girlfriends, mums or dads!!!

This is just a short post to cover the dates so that people can make arrangements and start planning.  So................
  • The RetreatVille will be held over four days at the commencement of the Victorian school holidays in September: Thursday 16th, Friday 17th, Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th.
  • This is a RetreatVille, not a CropVille, so all attendees will remain at the venue throughout the duration of their booking.
  • There will be a Three Night Option for those wishing to attend on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights - priced accordingly.
  • There will also be a Two Night Option for those wishing to attend on the Friday and Saturday nights - priced accordingly.
  • There will be an Immediate Payment Plan for those Registered to Attend.
  • There will be a Non Refundable Deposit of $50.00 required with the Registration Form to hold your place.  Forms will not be accepted without the Paid Deposit.
  • There will be a SHOP.
  • There will be more information regarding the type of Demonstrations, Make n Takes, Workshop and Kits.
  • There will be Published Guests.
  • ....... and there will be surprises!!
To be honest, there is still a lot of fine tuning to be done, but my main concern is getting the dates to you so that you can make your plans NOW.  Numbers will be limited, so only those paying their deposits will be put onto the attendees list.

I will be confirming prices next week once I have ironed out the activities and extras that will need to be included, but to help those of you wanting to budget, the prices will be between $200 and $360 approximately...... as I said, ironing still needs to be done to get out the wrinkles!

If you want a closer look, please go to Feathertop Chalet and check out the Venue.

So girls, GET EXCITED, and GET ONBOARD for what will be an amazing fun filled RETREATVILLE!

Woo Hoo!!!
