September Sketch Challenge!
Firstly, apologies for the delay in getting the new sketch onto the blog! This month has been a little crazy with the first ever Scrapville Retreat and OMGoodness... it was a fabulous weekend to say the least! More on the retreat soon, promise!
We haven't even had a chance to show-case all the wonderful August sketch challenge entries, however don't despair, we will be uploading your creations for all to see in the coming week along with the 'Winner's' announcement.
Every month we post a sketch challenge with randomly drawn prizes. The sketches are purely to give you inspiration for your creations, you don't have to follow the sketch verbatim, you can flip it, turn it, alter it slightly, add to it. However the original sketch design must be recognizable in your entry.
All entries must be emailed to scrapville@iinet.net.au or dropped into the store in Wodonga before midnight, 14th October. Winners will be announced on the blog on the 15th October.
Looking forward to seeing all those wonderful creations!
Happy Scrapping,
Melinda

KidsVille
Hi Everyone, sorry about wagging the Blog lately, but I'm back at last from Retreat and gearing up for the little people's School Holiday KidsVille tomorrow.
The little people will need to bring in their trimmers, adhesives and a 5x7 or smaller photo for the class. Once you've finished the class you can have a free scrap, so bring along something extra.
................... wagging doesn't always pay off, there's so much more catch up on now!!!

September Monthly Pack
Hello Everyone, well haven't things just been a tad wet under foot?! I hope that everyone has been safe during the region's recent floods. With so much going on in that area I have fallen behind in my 'Monthly Duties', so I do apologize for that. I will post a few photos later on that will help explain why.
For the September Monthly Pack we have decided to run with just the one pack, given that we already had the Mama Razzi pack from BoBunny, and Wishful Thinking from Fancy Pants before we threw a couple of Monthly Extra's into the mix for August with Kaisercraft's Hey Birdie and Le Chateau ranges.
Featuring for September is the Melissa Frances Heart & Home Collection. We have something a bit vintage, shabby and storybook all mixed into one. I am hoping the layouts and cards that the very talented Creative Team girls have put together will inspire you all to see outside your comfort zones and try something new. Friday is when you can rush in to pickup your packs, when the last of the "delayed items" are back in stock and they are all ready to go! I suppose sometimes things are just outside your hands........... Hope you all enjoy, photo of the pack will be uploaded shortly.........

Monthly Pack Layouts
Hello Everyone,
time to get an update on for all those extra layouts in the running for Scrapville's $20.00 Voucher. We have had a few more layouts come into the store, and they are all so different. I was quite surprised with the standard of work this pack has inspired as I had pictured something totally different in my mind when I first looked at using the Mama Razzi range from BoBunny. Needless to say the girls have outdone themselves! Take a look for yourselves......
Using the Wishful Thinking pack from Fancy Pants, these layouts have used an interesting mix of the colours. The bunting gives the layouts such a nice, softening lift. The richer colours in the sketched flower patterns have also added quite a contrast to the range. Again, I found the use of these flowers a little unexpected as I had not pictured them in quite the same way and those finicky cutting scrappers out there have! Credit to them though, we've seen some awesome cutting skills being practised without a single cutting injury in sight!
Also in the mix is some of the Kaisercraft layouts using the Extra Monthly Packs, Le Chateau and Hey Birdie.

BLIND CROPVILLE x 2
Hi Everyone,
Well what a great couple of classes we had this month at the Blind CropVilles. Melinda set a task to the girls in doing a typical "Melinda Style" layout, and they set about working on lots of cutting and mounting up. I must say, staying "reasonably close" to the instructions, this would have to be the closest Blind CropVille(s) for matching up with the "Master". It was great to run, and the girls had a ball. Thanks to Melinda for the layout design, and Allana for running the second class.
Now, lets see what they all did..........

What's On This Week?
Hey Everyone,
just a reminder that the KidsVille Father's Day Card Classes are on Tuesday 31st August and Thursday 2nd September from 4pm to 6pm. All those little people that would like to make a special card for dad this Father's Day will need to book in.
Friday night we have our Stamping and Embossing Class from 7pm to 9pm. Here you will learn all about the different types of stamping, stamp pads, embossing with the heat tool and the different methods to can use for specific effects, and how. You will be completing several cards as you go.
This Class will run again on Saturday morning from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Which ever class you decide to do, this one is a must for those wanting to explore the stamping world. And, whatever you do on a card you can do on a layout, so don't feel that you can't use stamping if you're not a cardmaker.
Saturday Evening we will be running the Love Bugs layout page from 7pm to 9.30pm. This can be done using either a boy or girl pack, and involves paper tearing and rolling to make a frame for your photo, inserting a window for a poem, and a bit of distressing and fussy cutting. You will need a landscape oriented photo to fit this layout.
Please make sure you book in so that we can have confirmed numbers for all classes.
cheers

EXTRA BLIND CROPVILLE SCRAP!!
Hi everyone,
after considerable thought regarding the popularity of the Blind Cropville's each month, I have decided to add another Blind Cropville into the mix.... This one will be held on the SAME DAY, but at an EARLIER timeslot -commencing at 2pm and finishing at 6pm. This allows for the second BCV to start on time, and eliminates any hassle with people seeing the finished layouts before the other class is run!
Those already booked into the 7pm BCV can opt to change their booking to the earlier timeslot if they let me know immediately.
Just as a heads up, there will be lots of fussy cutting in this next one!!! Melinda was determinded to get everyone doing one of her signature techniques, so you'll all be busy! I can't wait to see how this one turns out for you all.
Cheers everyone, and good luck with booking into the new timeslot.

Scrapville Announcement
AUGUST CREATIVE TEAM GUEST
Well it's time again to introduce our newest member of the Creative Team. I would like to thank Anthea for joining us as the outgoing Creative Team Guest, and for all her creative contributions to the Team at Scrapville. I would also like to wish Anthea well with her other Design Team commitments.
New to the Creative Team Guest role is a familiar face to those of you that venture into Scrapville, or the Cyber people who jump onto the Blog to check us out - as that's where you'll see her wonderful work! We welcome Heather Bensley to the Team, and offer you a brief bit of background so that you can get to know Heather better!
Heather Bensley - Creative Team Guest
I live: in Wodonga.
I have been scrapbooking and / card making for: seven years: The birth of my first grandchild was the incentive to begin.
The type of style I like is: Simple with interesting colour and pattern mixes.
The colours I love to work with are: just about any colour: I do a lot of pinks because most of my pages are girly, but I love the challenge of mixing colours. Usually the photo I am working with will dictate my colours.
The products I love to work with are: I love the Adorn It mini alphas: These are a recent discovery for me and I can't get enough. anything bling can give such a lift to a page, and the Martha Stewart punches and anything floral. Flowers are my major thing.
My favourite patterned papers are: October Afternoon. I love their colour mixes. Sassafras Lass, once again great clear colours and designs. But there are such great ranges out there. I just love to browse the shop and pick up new ranges.
The people I love to scrap most are: My family, this is the reason I do it.
I scrap at: I do a lot at home, but love going to CropVille at Scrapville! It is great for an exchange of ideas.
I attend Retreats each year with: Friends from Ballarat and weekends with local friends. I am anticipating a great time at the first Scrapville RetreatVille in September!
I have not submitted anything for publication.
I am excited to be a Guest on the Scrapville Creative Team because: It will be nice to share my styles and ideas with others and I hope that other scrappers out there will be able to take away new techniques to help them develop their skills.
Welcome to the team Heather, I am really looking forward to sharing your wonderful talent with our fellow Creative Team members and all the scrappers out there. You can see Heather's August/September Sketch Layout on the Blog, or in store now.
