June Post #2

Hello everyone, here we have more creations from our Begginers Scrapbooking Classes.  You may think that you are going to be limited by what you come up with in the Beginners Classes, but these classes are full of helpful  tips and assistance, ideas and alternatives.  The girls' finished projects are always an unexpected result, as they add a variety of photos and touches that make them so much more than a class project.  It's great to step back and see how happy everyone is with their end result.

Here we have the class project, and one done after to show how easily it is to change things up.  I loved what the girls did in the class, and although I don't have them to show here, their choices in Washi worked in with their photos brilliantly.

June Post #1

Hi everyone, it's been a little grim on the blogging side of things lately as I am still without internet services. Whilst Telstra sorts through ongoing issues for the third week, I have been unable to access the 'net at all from work.  With a little dose of "family flu" on top of that, the energy levels are finally starting to life.  Alas, we are behind the ball in all sorts of posts!   So to catch up I'm just going to upload some of the wonderful work that has been coming in to Scrapville, whether it be via challenges or our classes.

The following layouts are from our classes, so I hope you enjoy the girls work.

Some really great work, and I would like to thank all those that have taken part in our classes and challenges.  As always, it's an exciting anticipation to see what the girls come up with.  The MMT classes prove that, especially once the girls have added their own touches.

I will be posting more when I get the chance, so bear with me whilst I juggle to time it takes to get these up.

cheers

Senior's Show & Tell

Scrapville has been running Card and Scrapbooking Classes as part of the October Seniors Program. Today we're sharing a few samples of what the girls have been doing. With only one week to go we'll have more to share following that class as well.
Cards with Heidi

Scrapbooking with Zan
Family
With this layout the girls all used a variety of patterned Christmas Papers. With layering, inking, tearing and a little bling the girls all got to try something new. For a different spin on the above design we had a couple of extra layouts that the girls were able to see as a comparison to what you can do with a basic layout.
The Girls
Special Day
We're looking forward to seeing the girls putting their next layout together in the last class next Tuesday. Don't forget, if you haven't booked yet you'll need to, places are limited.

Thanks to Heidi and Zan for showing the girls what to do in their classes.

Spellbinders Event

What a wonderful time we all had on Saturday for the Spellbinders Designer Classes with Lovely Linda - Designer and Blogger for Spellbinders. We had two groups of ladies who were just as excited to be instructed under the expert guidance of Lovely Linda.  An added bonus for the girls was the equally Lovely and talented Teresa who assisted Linda and the girls.

We were all awed with the wonderful range of Spellbinders products, and their latest CHA releases which are shortly coming our way.  We can't wait to see them in-store!  Along with Spellbinders Dies and M-Bossabilities, the Grand Calibur Die Cutting and Embossing Machine was given a good workout.  This machine is such as easy tool to use, and takes so much of the work out of achieving your end result.
Botanical Butterflies Card by Lovely Linda (Spellbinders)

If you haven't seen the new Tsukineko Memento ink colours, you'll need to call in and check them out.  What a wonderful range, and so easily blended with their little daubers.  The white crayons used on the first card add an interesting technique, and open lots of doors to creating interesting cards, and stamped images on your layouts.  I love the look of this effect!

Here is what we used on this card, you can call in and pick some up, or contact Scrapville to order your Mail Out Kit.
S4-310 Labels Eighteen Nestabilities®
S6-005 5 x 7 Elegant Labels Four Nestabilities®

JustRite Stampers: Botanical Butterflies stamp set
Tsukineko Memento Ink: Love Letter, Pear Tart, Tangelo
Tsukineko: Jet Back Stazon, Tuxedo Black and StazOn Cleaner

Now, if you like the challenge of achieving different layering effects you'll have to try the Cut and Tuck Dies. There are a range of choices to pick from, and the one used in our class was beautifully layered on embossed teal patterned paper. Check these out.

Below we have a few photos of the day, and a look at the wonderful cards that the girls created.

A Little Spin...

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to share a couple of layouts that have been hiding away in my back room.  These are layouts that I changed up a bit, just to show you how to make it work for you.  One was a Grunge Class, and the other was a Blind CropVille.
All Day Brunch by Janet Watt (CT)

This had actually been sitting in my "Work in Progress" stash for a while, and I wanted to show how you can use different colours to change it up - or put a bit of spin on it.
There's quite a bit of distressing in this layout, using the distressing tool, distress inks and Glimmer Mist. Oh, and considerable violent scrunching on the flowers...
We also got to play wit the Cricut to do this layout, and that was a lot of fun.  The leaves look great cut in two parts with the tops adhered only at the stems so they sit up.
This is what we started with...
Perfect by Sally Clark (CT)
and secondly...
Dinner and a Show by Janet Watt (CT)
Yes, very sad!  This is how we spend our holidays, camping and relaxing.  I was very tempted to call this layout "Dish Pig", but I got too much humour out of the current title!  Again, there was a bit of distressing on this layout, and a bit of Dimensional Magic for added shine.  The tree is a chip shape, and I covered that in Chalkboard Glimmer Mist, which I love.  The little fussy cut hearts are from the Jillibean Monster range that I was itching to use, and the pirate paper with it little embossed skulls just added a bit of aghhhrrrrrr.....

I did Dimensional Magic a few of the eyes to make them pop up a bit more, then inked the edges and layered them.
Oh my goodness.... the chip letters were white, and I inked them red.  The papers are torn and inked and overlap.  The charming photos are mounted so that you can really get a good look at camping man.
and this is the initial layout...
Love by Sally Clark (CT)
This is a tad "prettier" than mine, but I did want to blokey it up a bit.
I used the same style leaves on my tree, and added dimension to the eyes.  I substituted the butterflies with random skulls, covered with Dimensional Magic and mounted up.  Instead of scalloped and straight edges I tore mine.

I hope you've enjoyed my little show and tell.  It's good to show you how to change things up a little to make a layout work for you, .... and I get to have a little fun scrapping every so often!

Time to show everyone a few more layouts from the October Monthly Packs.  We have some from the Life is Good range from Echo Park Pack, and the Porcelain range from BasicGrey.  Also added on are a couple from the girls for our Monthly Sketch competition.

This one is a Sketch that has time management issues, and some of us can relate to that!  We are always happy to share your work though, so bring them in and let us all see the finished product...

My Beautiful Boy by Sam Epps

This layout is one from our "Love Bugs" class, and features the pink/purple kit.  Lots of paper tearing and bug bites on the paper!  This is a sample of the layout using the girls kit.  Below that is the one that uses the boys kit.
