A Sketchy RetreatVille?

Some may think so, but here we have some wonderful RV Sketches to share with you all.  Being a part of RV means you get to do our special RV Sketch, and first up to share is the Creative Team, who all had their lovely creations on show all weekend.  Thanks again to the amazing Anita for her wonderful designs.
Me Time by Anita Bownds (CT)
I just love the colours in this Ezy Pzy Kit.  Anita has used coordinating Manor House flowers and spritz to work the colours in, and the spritz pattern drizzled over the background looks great.
Layering and a bit of doodliing adds definition, and a bit of bling never goes astray!  Doilies are just so versatile at the moment, and Anita has made great use of these.  Gorgeous work girlfriend!
2010 by Sally Clark (CT)
This is what I love about the Sketch Challenges, how different are these layouts?  Again, we have an Ezy Pzy kit used for Sally's layout, taking the work out of coordinating the patterns, colours and extras.  Tags are great on masculine layouts when you add a bit of "Bloke", whether it be the colours, distressing or texture.  The thickness and colour of the grosgrain ribbon works well, and a bit of frayed string works a treat on the tag.
Inking adds definition, as does the overlapping of layers.  A bit of stamping using texture stamps creates a bit of grunge.
Giving your punches a good workout with a bit of extra inking and layering can create different effects.  A simple way to do a title, a little tag with your stamped title - Ezy!  Well done Sally, a great one for the Boys.
Mason by Deb Pulford (CT)

Deb has used an Ezy Pzy Kit to do her Retreat Sketch.  Takes all the work out of thinking, the colours all work well together and there are some lovely Manor House flowers to add a little softness.  Looks great Deb.
Spring by Jennie Seal (Guest)
Jennie has taken advantage of her border punches, and tearing on the edges to give the layout a sense of depth.  The punched tag is a great way to decorate your journaling panel, and a few bits of bling and charms adds to the feminine feel of the layout.
Her fussy cutting is great, and looks fantastic layered and covered with Dimensional Magic.  The fine loopy punch layered beneath the ribbon trim balances out the colouring and look.

The border punched strips have really worked well with their colours, and the inked ribbon layered on top brings it all together to make a lovely layered effect beneath the photo.  The little dots of paper have been painstakingly adhered and covered in, yes, Dimensional Magic.  Beautifully done Jennie.

The Creative Team Girls have worked wonders with the Sketch, now here are some of the layouts the girls have completed over the weekend.

Retreat End by Zan Boyle
Deb Night by Beth Metcalf

3rd Burst and Sketches

Hi Everyone, we have more ScrapBursts to share with you all. I hope you've been busy getting yours done, as we're now half way through the challenge.  Here to show us what they've been creating is some very busy scrappers.
ScrapBurst #2 - Hexagons on a Layout - at least 6
Pippa by Debi Clark
Loving the simplicity of your hexagons Debi, mounted up and put into their own little stitched sections. The flower cluster adds softness to the page, and also has it's own little hex centre as a balance. You can't help to focus on that new little person though, just 4 days old and snuggling right into that page! Lovely Debi, well done.

This next Sketch is actually from the Aug/Sept challenge, and I missed it as Rita sent me the link to her blog instead of the pic.  Never fear, I picked up the image there and got it uploaded, and as it was received on the 11th still qualifies to be in the challenge.  Apologies to Rita for missing the link.........
Beccati by Rita Russello
Rita has used lovely blue and cream tones for her Sketch, adding lots of little embellishments.  The woven doily is just lovely as a background frame for her photos.
Rita has used chipboard alphas to trace around as a templace, then coloured in the letters with watercolours.  It really is effective and gives you more use of your alphas!  Well done Rita, and thank you for joining us.
September/October Sketch Layout
Daniel by Anita Bownds (CT)
I used light blue cardstock for the background.  I flicked light blue watercolours with a paintbrush onto my background.  I used a doily as a template and painted over it with Gesso. I started cutting out my patterned paper, referring to the sketch design.
For the butterfly trails I used a silver gel pen… For my title I used alpha stamps onto patterned paper squares, and slightly overlapped them, then inked around the edges with black ink.
Thanks Anita, your sketch layout is just beautiful, and a gorgeous photo to boot!

Something Sketchy

Yes indeed, we have something very Sketchy to share with you all.  Our August/September Sketch Challenges will expire Pumpkin Time August 14th, and we still have plenty to see.  Get yours in before you know when............!
So Cold by Gillian Hume
Gillian's Sketch Challenge photos could have been taken on my back verandah, not in Toowoomba!  We've been having a bit of brisk spring weather here lately, so it's not quite that usual to see photos with everyone so rugged up like this in sunny Queensland!  Great scrapping though Gillian.  Lovely soft colours, and a great combination with the bling circle and the doily.  Lots of layering on the the flowers, topped with bling.  Well done Gillian, great colours to go with your photos.
Cheeky by Nicole McNamara
What a great use of the Swiss Dots Bazzil Nicole?  The colours are fantastic, and I love the painted background and your little Cheeky Monkeys.  Well done Nicole, lovely layout.
Mason turns One by Deb Pulford (CT)
Deb has used an Ezy Pzy Kit to do her Sketch Layout. Plenty of party food with with a very fruity background paper! The journaling has been done with Adorn It tiny alphas, and the title with BasiGrey chip alphas, inked with Staz On. Deb has also added some chipboard numbers, a chippie hexagon and a border punch. A very bright party layout Deb, thanks for playing.
Scrapville August Monthly Pack
Happy by Deb Pulford (CT)
This layout has been done by Deb using the Splash range by Little Yellow Bicycle.  A little apology goes Deb's way too, as I safely put her layouts in the posted folder much sooner than I needed to!  With the background paper already covered in white flowers, Deb's bright red trim and matching starfish paper offset the colours nicely.  A light touch of webbing, a scallop diecut and some clear shapes give the page a very clean and simple look.  Well done Deb - we finally got there!

We are approaching Pumpkin Time everyone, so make sure you get your Sketches in on time!

Spring Burst 2 - Ezy!

Yes, they're still coming in!  I'm just loving the ScrapBursts, they really get that Mojo moving (right Mrs S?)!  Everyone is keeping busy, and it really is great seeing all the different takes on each challenge.  I hope you're all having lots of fun!
ScrapBurst #1 It's All About "Me"
I Am Zan by Zan Boyle
Zan has used lovely pinks for her page about "Me".  She has used a border punch to accentuate the frame, with a lovely quoted background paper.  You will find the "5 Things about Me" listed around the frame.
The beautiful Manor House flower has been lightly inked, and a Chunky Chick handmade flower added to the centre.
The title has been cut out with the Cricut, layered, and spritzed with Glimmer Mist.  A lovely layout about you Zan, so much nicer with the B&W photo mounted on pink glitter!  Well done.
ScrapBurst #2 Distressed Stamping
A Moment in Time by Jennie Seal
Jennie has used rustic tones for her layout, blending in the distressed colour tones from the girls' tops.  Lots of different techniques being used, and a good amount of handmade items as well.
Jennie has stamped with Spiced Marmalade, Walnut and Tea Dye Distress Inks. The effect is great, especially with the masking.
Stamping on the die cut flourishes also add a nice touch, as well as the distressed handmade flowers underneath.  A lovely layout Jennie, well done.
Ezy Pzy Kit
A Little Ray of Sonshine by Deb Pulford (CT)
Deb has used an Ezy Pzy Kit to do her little Sonshine layout.  Gorgeous photo to go with the coordinated colours in the kit.  A bit of Glimmer Mist on the chip shape, some pearls and a bit of lace and you have a lovely layout.  Well done Deb.

Thanks girls, looking forward to sharing more soon......

Spring Bursts!

Hi Everyone, welcome to our Spring ScrapBurst creations.  I hope you are all having fun with this round of ScrapBursts, and that you all get time to get a few done!
ScrapBurst #2 - Hexagons x6 or more
The Bee Man by Sally Clark (CT)
As soon as I saw the 'Hex It Up' Scrapburst I knew I had to dig out these pics of the 'Bee Man' getting rid of the swarm of bees in our backyard. When I searched through my stash of papers from Scrapville I found the perfect Basic Grey paper from the June Bug range which I used for 2 of the large hexagons. I used a JilliBean Soup yellow printed paper as my background as it was a lovely mellow yellow and not too overpowering.
I cut some smaller hexagons from extra bits of the paper, mounted them up in random places on the larger hexagons, doodled a bit of a border and added some pearls to the centres for added interest. I also added a small blob of Dimensional Magic to the centre circles on the hexagon printed paper for a little added lift.
I stamped the Penny Black bee stamp twice using Staz-On - once on vellum and once on yellow cardstock. I cut the wing section from the vellum and the body section from the yellow cardstock, adhered the wings behind the body, adhered the body section only to the LO and folded the wings up slightly. Topped it all off with some Dimensional Magic over the bee body. Add some extra doodling for flight paths and it all came together quite well.
Well done Sally, very creative indeed!
ScrapBurst #3 Distressed Stamping
A Single White Rose by Anita Bownds (CT)
I've used Gesso to make the white dots on the background, and flicked it with Wood Stain spritz.  I added 2 strips of paper to the top and bottom of the layout, and distressed them. Then I cut out a pelmet and layered it, adding a chipboard circle turned into a button.
I fussy cut the basket of flowers and popped it on double sided tape added a chipboard circle that I turned into a button. Then I added a few butterflies with rhinestones.
I sprayed Caramel Latte and Wood Stain spritz onto a bit of plastic then pressed my BasicGrey floral stamp into it. I then stamped the image on the top and bottom of the background paper.
Lovely stamping and fussy cutting Anita, and I love that rose, just beautiful. Well done.
ScrapBurst #1 Wordplay - Heart
They Warm my Heart by Jennie Seal
What a wonderful layout, a great take on the ScrapBurst several times over!  Nice white space with a splash of red spritzing and embellishments.
Utilizing the shape of the heart, Jennie has been able to add in an assortment of different patterns and embellishments to adorn it.  With an assortment of red colourings, this becomes a very effective idea to be creative with shapes.
Very simple, yet elegant.  It's all you need really to make your page extra special, and a great way to soften a title.  Well done Jennie.

Well I hope you have enjoyed these creations and are inspired to get scrapping.  You have the whole month to get your ScrapBurst challenges in.  Have fun!

Thanks for sharing girls.  There's some wonderful detail in these layouts, and they're all so different.  This is a fine example of how versatile these packs can be.

September ScrapBursts

SCRAPBURSTS
For the month of September there will NOT be a Monthly Pack, due to Retreat. So we have decided to give you all something to keep you busy, here and at Retreat, especially for those with school holidays creeping up and a bit of extra time!

For another round of exciting ScrapBursts we will be running the Challenge throughout September. With prize packs up for grabs, we hope to see your creativity Bursting into Spring with a ScrapBurst Challenge! You can choose which ScrapBurst to do first, as long as each one is entered by Pumpkin Time September 30th! All winners will be announced on October 3rd.

You will find the criteria for each ScrapBurst Challenge below the Heading. You must stick to these criteria to be eligible for a prize. There must be a minimum of 4 entries in each challenge before a prize will be given.

The following Techniques can be used in conjunction with any of the listed criteria for each ScrapBurst: inking, painting, misting, stamping, sewing, piercing, masking and distressing.

SCRAPBURST KITS
Once again we’ll be putting together some SB KITs for you to use, but these are NOT compulsory. The Kits will include value added products to let you complete your challenge without the hassle of searching for products. If you purchase a SB KIT you can only use WHAT IS IN THE KIT, plus any of the allowed Techniques, as listed above. You can, however, use your own alphas and cardstock if you choose.

A winning ScrapBurst entry will WIN a SCRAPBURST PRIZE PACK! A winning entry that used a SB KIT, will ALSO WIN a BONUS PRIZE. Once again there will only be a limited number of Kits available in each ScrapBurst Challenge.  T&C apply.

SCRAPBURST #1 – IT’S ALL ABOUT “ME”
This layout is going to be about YOU, and includes a list of 5 things about yourself. There must be a photo of YOU. Your list can be done any way you choose, as long as there are 5 Items about You.

SCRAPBURST #2 – HEX IT UP!
Your layout must include a group of at least 6 Hexagonal Shapes. They can be grouped together, or spread around separately, but there MUST be at least SIX.

The HEX can be in the paper, a stamp, screen, chip shape, fussy-cut from patterned paper - but you MUST have them clearly visible on the layout.

SCRAPBURST #3 – STAMP IT DISTRESSED…
You must literally Distress this layout using Distress Inks, Distressing Tools and Distressing Techniques. As well as that, you MUST have at least ONE STAMPED IMAGE in the Background (using Distress Ink, and noting the colour used when entered).

SCRAPBURST #4 - WORD PLAY - HEART
You must include this WORD in the TITLE, or a derivative of this word (heart chip shape…). Your layout must also reflect the theme of the Title.

Here is our first sample for the #4 ScrapBurst, just to get you started!

I Love U by Anita Bownds (CT) ("Heart for "O")
Anita has used one of our EzyPzy Kits to do this ScrapBurst.  The colours are fantastic, as is the subject!  She has used cutout shapes to add her hearts, with wonderful spritzed watercolours to accent the background.
A bit of doodling on the hearts and a bit of bling is easy to get away with on a boy page - when it's BLUE!
How gorgeous is this flower? Anita does wonders with her handmade techniques and doodling. Beautiful layout Anita, well done.

We hope you have fun with these ScrapBursts, and look forward to seeing what you come up with.

PLEASE NOTE:
There is ONE more post to upload for the August Monthly Pack.  Due to some equipment failure, this won't be uploaded until Saturday Night.  Apologies to Delsie and Judy, but we look forward to seeing your creations then!!
